Peloton announced on Tuesday that it is entering the outdoor fitness equipment market with the Peloton Row Outdoor, a water-resistant rowing machine designed for use on patios, decks, and garage gyms. The $1,495 machine features marine-grade aluminum construction and a weatherproof touchscreen display that remains visible in direct sunlight.

The outdoor rower joins Peloton's existing indoor Row and represents the company's broader strategy to expand beyond the living room. CEO Barry McCarthy said the launch responds to consumer data showing that 35 percent of Peloton subscribers prefer to exercise outdoors when weather permits.

The device is fully compatible with Peloton's existing library of rowing classes and includes environmental sensors that adjust workout intensity recommendations based on temperature and humidity. Pre-orders open on May 1 with deliveries expected to begin in June, just in time for the summer outdoor fitness season.
