Hoka has unveiled the Tecton X3 Smart, the first trail running shoe with built-in GPS tracking, fall detection, and emergency SOS capabilities — a potential lifesaver for solo trail runners.

Smart Features

A thin sensor pod embedded in the midsole provides real-time GPS tracking, automatic fall detection that alerts emergency contacts, and breadcrumb trail recording for navigation.

Performance

Despite the technology, the shoe weighs only 10.2 ounces — just 0.5 ounces more than the standard Tecton X3. Battery life is rated at 20 hours of continuous GPS tracking.
